New SDXC memory card has up to 2 TB storage

The format for Secure Digital memory card, launched in January 2000, has become over the years while undergoing several upgrades, leaving behind some competitors formats. Maps so-called high-capacity exceeding 4 GB have emerged under the name SDHC in the year 2006.

The SD Association, which groups the major players in the field of Secure Digital memory cards, unveiled today at the CES 2009 the new memory card specification SDXC (eXtended to Capacity). The maximum capacity of these memory cards rises to 2 TB (as against 32 GB currently) and can reach speeds near 300 Mb / s playback and writing. These cards based on NAND flash chips last generation (such as those used in the SSD) and will use the file system of Microsoft exFAT optimized especially for flash memory and not limiting the size of a file, unlike the traditional FAT, 4 GB
